VICTORIA COLLEGE.
(Per P.'css Association.) WELLINGTON, September 19. The Victoria College Council discussed the question of the Opaku Reserve*' in the Tiu-anaki district, to-day. Speakers', claimed that the Reserve was set aside foV. University purposes, and the fact of its locality did not entitle Taranaki to claim an cxclusivo benefit from it. Accumulated , funds wr.-n said to amount; to £2851, and the yearly rental to £295. Presently the fatter would bring-in three or four times as much. A resolution was passed culling (.he atttnt'on of the Government to the conditions' of the statute under which .the Reserve was stt aside, and asking them not to promote any ■ legislation : to- divert the endowment fvoni its proper purpose^ ■ ' A committee was appointed to formulate a scheme for University extension in the towns of the University district from Napier and-New; Plymouth to Grevmouth.
