PROPOSED PICNIC RESERVE.
(To Tho Editor.) Sir,— ln these days of a constantly-in-creasing population it is the duty of the authorities to secure recreation grounds for tho rising generation and public generally, and tho action taken by the Borough Coun-. cil lately, to, reserve a play-ground in the upper part of the town is to be commended. Having the sameJaudnble object in view, would it not bo possible to secure a* reservo a little way out of town, with bush on it, where picnics could be held, and a happy day spent among the beautiful trees of our natural forest? What gave me the idea was the hearing of the intention of Mr A. Nixon to, cut up. that beautiful piecb of bush at the foot of the hill on which his mansion stands. It realy slems a piece' of vandalism, to destroy this lovely section of bush. 'lf it was possible, I, for one, would like to see the property secured by the Borough Council and reserved • for ■ the purpose H. <haVe mentioned. — Yours, et«;, SANATAS.
