SIRES OF THE SEASON.
+ THE CLYDESDALE STALLION DUKE OP SUTHERLAND. . . (By "Bona, Fide.") Tlie above subject of my sketch comes from. the best strains of Clydesdale imported to the. colony. He is a handsomely-built lioise, with great body set on short, substantial legs, has a beautiful head, and is a nice-tempered horse.- Although practically a new horse in : this part of the district, there- is no gainsaying the fact that he has produced spme of the finest stock obtainable, and judging by their looks, there is no doubt that The Duke of .Sutherland will have another successful season at Invermailie, near Turakina- All care (but no responsibility) will be taken of mares, and Mr W. Glasgow will be pleased' to afford further information...
The Press comments on the fact that, in « comparatively small city like Christchurch three variety entertainments have been simultaneously drawing good houses during the past week, and that while the legitimate drama proves capable of attracting audiences only for .rome fifty ot sixty night? a yenr, an enterprising manager has run a continuous-series of vaudeville- performances for over three hundred nights.
