THE CAPTURE OF A CONVOY.
ANOTHER ACCOUNT.
Telegraphing from Bushmanskop on March 31st, Router's correspondent says : A force, commanded by Colonel Broadwood consisting of the 10th Hussars, Household Cavalry, ahd two horse batteries, and a force of mounted infantry, under Colonel Pilcher, which was garrisoning Thaba Nchu, yesterday, in consequence of the near approach of a large force of Boers, was obliged to leave last night, and march to Bloemfontein waterworks, south of the Modder river, where the force camped at fonr o'clock in the morning. At dawn the camp was shelled from the rear, and ColoneBroadwood sent off a convoy with the batterl iea, while the rest of the force remained to act as a rear-guard. Tbe convoy arrived in a deep spruit, where the Boers were concealed. The whole convoy walked into the ambush, and were captured, as also five guns. The loss of life was not great, since the majority of the convoy walked into the trap before a shot was fired. Colonel Colville's division, which left Bloemfontien eaiy this morning, arrived here at twelve o'clock, and is now
shelling the enemy.
