WELLINGTON, February 21. At v meeting of the Conciliation Board held to consider the furniture trade agreement, » letter was read from S3. Brown, one of the members, protesting against the limitation of apprentices, aud granting preference to unionists.. He considered these two points prejudiced by the Board, and advised the furniture trade to refuse to tender evidence, but go straight "to arbitration. The Board refused to attend the meeting 'as a protest. The . chairman said he did not sympathise with Brown's action, -and^in reply stated he was away at Auckland on important business. He said. Brown never once mentioned that he was likely to be away. The Board adjourned without doing any business till Thursday- Week, to enable the vacancy caused by the death of Mr. Wilkie to be filled up.
