NEVINA — REGD. A New Name For An Old Friend, Kangarette boots and shoes of our mannfaoture will in future be known as NEVINA boots and shoes. Our reasons for altering the name are as follows : . 1. The Chief Justice has deoidedthat Kangarette, Kangaratta, etc., aie corruptions of the word Kangaroo. 2. The word Kangaroo is common-property, and as such may bo used by anyone. 3. The word Kangaroo not being registrable, therefore the word Kangarette cannot be registered. 4' Our brand " -DRarette" is an invented word, and can bo registered,, but if other firms use the words Kangarette, Kangaratta, etc., there would te contusion, and the publ c would be deceived, Ihe words being of a siratlar sound. 5. t'omo traders aod manufacturers have usod the brands Kangaratta, or King irette to boots aud shoes NOT made of either Kangaroo or Wallaby skin;. G. The word NEVIN4, having been invented by ourselves and registered, will be used only to boots and shoes made from Wallaby skins, the strongest and softest leather known. 7. As no doubt many manufacturers will now get up Kangaretts boots and shoeß, and so tako advantage of our former advertising we deem' it our duty to the general public and ourselves to change our brand to Nevina. We caution all buyers not to be deceived by buying any boots or shoes unless they are branded with our name and the Duke's Head on the sole as well as our Angaretie brand. When our present stocks are disposed of all new goods will bear the brand NEVINi . None others are genuine. W. & J. STAPLES & CO..
