| Mr Whitehouse, who has introduced i more than one of Edison's) wonders to vVanganui patrons, visit 3 us again for a Bhorfc season, commeDciog on Monday evening next. Mr Whitehouse on this occasion exhibits on 9 of Edißpn's latest kinematographs and improved phono - Speaking of tha entertainment provided, a northern exchange Fays : — The kinsmatograph and phonigrar/h entertainment at the Academy of Music last night was lirgely attended. These machines are the latest invented by Mr Edison, and are decidedly the best that have ever been exhibited hera. The kiaematograph pictures were Bhown with great brilliancy, by means of the electric light, which Mr Whitehouse had fitted up for the occasion. Ths fic.-t picture represented a burning stahle, with the fireman rescuing horses and traps from the building through volumes of smoke. This iiem was moot striking and natural, and had to be repeated several times bafore the audience were satisfied. This was succeeded by a comic picture " 1 he Lobe Fisherman," representing an angler sitdna«|MU)L board over a stream fi^hin?, jgwißjyS LWlfcge cornea along. He lifts at the disappearJ*iP^eTnaßr4h|BEg " j )ker " approaches tips up TSsp}o?rel he is sitting on, the result being tfnjpaSctUs into the ttreafn, and then btirtavVivgig his hand at the joker, tbreßtonHn^mn, and eventually trying to Bplasn hi at witH water, whnreupon the latter psiwhim and thus brings a mo.-fc comictd^cene to a close. Among ijjhe moßt at^jsltigiiSriews exhibited were : »S|gp»ry,glr3& or a pillow fight ; Msy 3J^WS *t6sjf'S3«nts from the Jubilee j contest j whirlpool rapids, Niagara ; backing bcouch, a scene taken from the Wild WeaJ Show ; feeding the dovei ; trick elephant; ; cock fi {ht ; a boat 'ace ; starting for the fire ; boxing match ; Edison workinp in his laboratory ; and Annabelle S(in Dane?. The phonograph k elett : ona were also very popular, parhap? the best song from this machine during the evening being ' Ban Bolt." There ware also a very largo number of various items from this michine, including a Xylophone eolo, which sounded very pretty, as also did ihe minstrel laughing song aad ethers too numerous to mention.
