"Warner, licensee of the Commercial Botol, Christchnrch, J. Murray, licensee of the New Brighton Holel, and Herbert Stewart, formerly an employee of the New Brighton Tram Company, lo3t their lives created a very painful sensation in town yesterday and to-day, Warner being one of the most widely known men in the community. The accident happened about 2 n.m. 3ho boat which was beir.g taken from Sumner to New Brighton to compote in the soiling iace in the afternoon, capsized in a sudden gust of wind. Hawker, the fourth oconpant of the boat, went for assistance, and got through the mud flats after a desparate ftruggle. When he returned with help his companions had disappeared. A searon for the bodies was kapfc up tho whole of the day, and that of Murray was found about I this morning. Warner's bpdy has been recovered, but up till lats in the afternoon that of Stewart had not been found. Warner was about 61 years of ago, and had lived a somewhat adventurous life in his youth.
