Royalist Commissioner Oliver oalled a publio meoting of the inhabitants and read a commission and letter from the Governor of New Bouth .Wales, stating that the recent eloction of Ohief Magistrate was illegal, owing to the nonobservance of certain regulations, and directing that a fresh election be held. The lotter oskod for the co-operation of the roßidonte in carrying out the inquiry. Proviouß to tho arrival of tho Royalist a publio meeting was held at wbich strong protests wero made against tho proposal to transfer the admiuietrat'on of the group from tbo Imporial Government to tho New Bouth Walee Government. Borne of the speakers said they would rather die tban be annexed or havo the Constitution upset. The proceedings wire somewhat dßtordoily.
