To start at 12.45 p.m. 3— Hunter's Steeplechase Handicap, of 50 soys. ; second horse to receive 10 soys. from the stakes ; open to all qualified hunters ; distance, about 2 miles ; over such course as the Stewards may direct ; gentlemen riders ; lowest weight not under list. To start at 1.45 p.m. IS-"QUALIFCATION FOR HUNTEIIB.— Open to all horses qualified during the year 1893 ; or that have ridden to the hounds twice in the present season (1894) to the satisfaction of the Master of Hounds ; but which have never won an advertised steeplechase or hurdle race (hack and hunter races excepted). Master's certificates to be produced to Clerk of the Scales. 4— Trial Steeplechase Handicap, of 80 soys. ; second horse to receive 10 soys rom the stakes ; for all horses which have never won a Steeplechase of the value of 25 soys ; (hacks and hunters excepted) ; distance, about 2 miles ; over such course as the Stewards may direct. TUESDAY, May 8, 1894 (on or about) - Weights for Hunter's, Trial, and Hack Flat Handicaps. TUESDAY, May 15th, ot 9.30 p.m.— Acceptances : Hunter's Steeplechase; 1 soy. ; Hack Flat Handicap, 10s. THUESDAY, May 24th (on the Course) —Weights for Final Steeplechase will be declared after tho Trial Steeplechase, and acceptances half-an-hour before the race starts: RULES AND REGULATIONS. All entries, nominations, etc., will close at the Secretary's office at 9 p.m., except when otherwise specified. All entries to be sealed and addressed to tho Secrotary, Wanganui Jockey Club, Wanganui, entrance money enclosed, with tho name, age at the time of entry, name of owner, pedigree, colours of the rider, and in case of handicaps where horses have not previously started on tho Wanganui course, pedigree and performance of the horse. Any owner failing to declare his colours at time of entry will be fined 2 soys., unless the colours of the owner of the horso are duly registered. All entries can bo made on the Club's printed forms of entry, and must bo sont to tho Secretary of the Wanganui Jockey Club, Wanganui, from whom entry forms can bo btained. Entries by telegram must bo confirmed m writing at the earliest possible opportunity. All horses must be ridden in colours. Any jockey riding except in the colours entered will be fined 2 soys. When two or more horses start, (ho pro perty of the s ame owner, a distinguishing colour must be declared on entry day, and worn. Any person neglecting thisrule to be fined 2 soys. In nil cases where penalties have to bo carried for winning, it .shall be the duty of the owner, trainer or iockoy to notify the game to tho Secretary, when possiblo, tho evening bofore the race, or in any case half-an-hour prior to the start. Any person neglecting to comply with this rule shall pay a fmo to bo imposed by the Stewards, not exceeding 5 soys. In all races other than handicaps an allowance will bo made to all horses sired north of the line, in accordance with tho following scale :— 2 and 3-year-olds, 101 b. ; 4-year-olds, 71bs. ; 5-year-old. 31bs. All persons intending to withdraw horses are required to give notico to that effect to the Secretary or Clerk of tho Scales on-half-hour before the official time for starting the race. An person neglecting or reo fusing to comply with this rule shall pay a fine, to be imposed by the Stewards, not exceeding 20 soys., to the Race Fund. Five per cent will bo deducted from all winnings towards the expenses of tho course. ;. All races to be run under the rules of Bating.
