ATHLETIC.

» WANGANJI A.A. CLUB'S SPORTS. (Tirs by " Sprinter.") Tlio Wauganui Amatour Athletic Club's meeting, to be held on the Collegiate School Grounds this afternoon, promises, given a fine day, to be one of the most successful gatherings yet held by the local club, inasmuch as two of this year's amatour champions— rMessrs Bailey and Kingsley — will be competitors, and each with a view to putting up the present records fir the high jump and pole jump contests. Tl)o entries are not as numerous as the Club deserve, and a most noticeable absence is that of our Manawatu adversaries, who, to say the least of it, should have been represented, as without thp presence of tho Wanganui team in i'alnierston on the 22ad January last the Manawatu Club's annual meeting there would have been a miserable failure. With regard to the handicaps they are, with one exception, up to Mr Copeland's usual standard, but I mu§t say he haß treated the limit man in the 100 Yards too liberally. Bette" that an untried man bo worked up to his mark than brought back to it. However, to-day will prove whether or not Mr Copeland has r,iiaiudged his man. For my part, I hope he has not. The following " tips " should not ba far out:— Maiden— Pipor 1, Tilley 2, 100 Yabbs — Henderson 1, Foster 2. 250 Yard's— Holder 1, Gordon 2. 410 Yabds— Good 1, Holder 2. §80 Yards CHAMPiONsHjp-4-Pip.er l, Campbell 2. 1 MrjjE— Rankin 1, Francis 2. 120 UußDLE3— Saxby 1, Good 2; Hian Jump— Kingßley 1, Bailey 2. Polb Jump— Kingßley. Weight— F. A. Piper*
