COLONEL FOX.
THE PREMIER INTERVIEWED. [Per Prkss Association.] Auckland, March 30. A Herald representative interviewed the Premier with reference to a telegram f torn Wellington stating that Colonel Fox had as'^ed the Premier to release him from his engagement ; but Mr Seddon wns unable to throw much additional light on the matter. He stated that the Commandant's communication was not at all equivalent to sending in his resignation, that it was all a conditional affair. The Premier said the Commandant evidently thought the Government did not want him, or sufficiently appreciate his services, and appeared to consider that the Government were not inclined to give effect to his recommendations, but preferred that things should remain as they are. Air Seddon said ho could give no further information, nor indicate what action the Government would take, until he had consulted his colleagues.
