THIRD DAY. , (Pbb Press Association.) Stdnet, March 29. Bain fell in the morning, but the weather cleared before the fist race and J a pleasant day ensued. The course was in good condition despite the wet, and "^ *••' attendance waa fair. Eesults : — '^-A Second Hurdles, 3 miles, JjWina 1 Enerslie 2 Eushhght 3 Eleven started. Won eisily. Time, Cmin 20sec. Ai,l-Aobd Stakes, 1 mile. Marvel 1 Loyalty 2 Carnage 3 Other starter-*— Jeweller, Utter, Gloria, and Hirondelle. Betting : 3to 1 Marvel, 4 to 1 Titan and Carnage, 7 to 1 Loyalty. A fair start waß effected, and Gloria cut out the running, with Marvel next. Carnage and Loyalty were in a good position passing the sheds, and Gloria gave way to Marvel outside the straight. Loyalty came fasc but could do no moie than beat Carnage for second place by a neck, Marvel winning bands down. Time, lmin 43Jsec. Welter Handicap, 1 mile. Bitter Sweet ... ... — ... 1 Warminster 2 Twenty-two started Won cleverly by half a length- Time, lmiu 44sec. Fifth Biennial £take 3, 6 furlongs. Bennie Scotland 1 Nobleman 2 Acmena 3 Nine started. Betting : 3to 1 Acmena, 6 to 1 Nobleman, 7 to 1 Bonnie Scotland. Malachite made the running to the f. straight, when Nobleman and Bonnie Scotland took charge, the latter winning by half a length. Time, lmin l7"eec. Cumberland Stakes, 2 miles. Tiian 1 Marvel 2 Light Artillery * 3 The other starters were— Portses, Ijoyalty, and Salutation. Betting : 6 to 2 Light Artillery, 4 to 1 Portsea, 5 to 1 Marvel and Loyalty, 7 to 1 Admiral, 20 to 1 Titan. Salutation made the running for the first mile, and passing the stand was followed by Marvel Loyalty, Admiral, Light Artillery, and Titan las'-. Along the back stretch Portsea moved up, but at the sheds waß beaten. Entering the straight Marvel was in front, with Light Artillery and Loyalty in immediate attendance. Titan, however, came up on the outside and at the distance post challenged the leader, and after a desperate race the gelding squeezed past the post by a neck, Loyalty fourth and Portsea last. Time, 3min 38sec. City Handicap, li miles. Trenchant 1 Nightingale 2 Whist 3 Seventeen started. Betting: 4to 1 -Nightingale, 10 to 1 others. Trenchant .ran in front at the sheds and led into the "••straight. At the distance post Nightingale closed up and was only beaten after a -V determined finish by half a head. Time, 2min 42' sec.
