SfThe Maori obstruction at Tairua is stated to have consisted in HoriTenetupi and other Maoris pulling up survey pegs and trig flags erected near the boundary of Wharekawa native reserve close to Tairua'is block The natives also threaten to attack any surveyor going there again. Hiszard, the Government surveyor, going with t constable, proceeded to the scene and replaced the pegs on trig stations. He warned the_ natives not to touch them again or else information would be laid. It is believed that the obstruction is instigated by Kerei Kehu, who has been sending natives to various parts of this island, urging them to obstruct sutvoya in connection with native lands. News haa been received by the Commissioner of Police that George anderson, late of Masterton, has been arrested at Temora, Few South Wales, on three charges which were laid against him in Wellington, namely, one of forgery of the name of J. Diamond to a cheque for .£B7, and (under the Bankruptcy .Act), secondly, absconding, and thirdly, concealment of property. Anderson has been remanded by the Sydney Bench for eight days, and a policeman who knows him woll will be sent across by the first boat to identify him and bring him to Wellington,
