PRODUCE MARKET.

Wellington, Januory 17. Messrs Laery and Co. report:— During the past few weeks the weather Ims been remarkably favourable, and reports from Southern districts indicate that the crops are rapidly approaching maturity, and harvesting operations should soon be in full swing. The yield all round promises to exceed the average, which scarcely augurs well for improved prices. \.' Wheat.— Market depressed. Millers are ''■ operating with caution, and very few sales are reported. Holders on the other hand are not disposed to push business. Whole fowl wheat is 'getting scarce and commands slightly better prices. Prime milling, 2/10 to 2/11 ; whole fowl wheat, 2/9. Oats— Holders of old season's oats appear anxious to unload, and values lately have undergone a sharp decline. Samples of the new crop arc now offering, and the quality of same leaves little to be desired. The prospects of the market are not encouraging. We quote bright stout feed, 2s 4d ; dun, 2s 3d ; tartarian, 2s Id ;to 23 2d ; Danish, 2s.
