NO REGATTA TO BK HELD THIS YEAR. I Tho attendance at tho Commercial ( Hotel last night, on tho occasion of the annual meeting of the Wanganui Kegatta , Association, was so small—only about a | dozen persons beine present— that the , warmest friond3 of the annual regatta i movement expressed themselveßas both f disheartenod and indignant at the lack of ] support and encouragement given them ( even by rowing men themselves. Mr j Pitzherbert, who had remained in town , purposely to attend the meeting, com- £ mented in severe terms on tho extra- £ ordinary apathy displayed, particularly j by rowing men. The ordinary annual meeting business having been &one | through— the reading and adopting of the ] repoitandbalanoe-6heet(Bhowingacredit j balance of £51), and the re-election of the j officers— Mr T. D. Cummins formally , moved, and Mr Rodwell seconded, " Th«t i owin" to the paucity of attendance, and . the geneval lack of interest shown by rowing men, no regatta be held this season. The resolution was ndopted with • out dissent, and it was further rosolved : that the meeting stand adjourned to the 2nd March next, for the purpose of con- , sidering the feasibility of holding the ; Championship Regatta in Wanpunm in 1895. ___ i
