(Notes by " Sprint. 11 ) ! On Monday next, given a fine day, the public should witness one of the beat day's sport afforded for some time past, _, as throughout the programme of racesjf ' the entries are numerous and good fields should he the result. The Handicapper, Mr T. Copeland, has excelled himself on this occasion, and to attempt to find anyone "thrown in" were in vain. I am sorry to say the track, whioh I inspected on Thursday, is for from perfect, and a little more attention to this part of the programme would have proved a boon to all concerned. However, the rain has made a little difference to the hardness of the ground, and provided the lain does not continue the turf should be atlright in that respect. On looking through the names of the contestants I notice that the best men of the day arc probable starters, and include sue ll well known as performers fjeslie, Werry, Morrisse/, Watts, Franoiß, and others, and should they all " go " for the money, the ludgos will have no easy task before them. The following " tips " will, I fancy, not be far out at the fiinish : — 100 Yards. This ovont should be fought out between Worry, Morrissoy, Watts, and Lett. The latter must be in good form, as in Feilding he won the 120 yards handicap, from the 11yds mark, in 11 3-Bth sec, andatHairera, the 10Q yards Handicap, from syds, m 9 4-sth sec, ftfcg .being second on each occasion. Ho will, however, have a harder nut to crack in Werry ; I will therefore place them > Werry 1 Lett 2 j Morrisboy or Watts 3 220 Yards. This looks a good thing for R. Jarrett, but as I fancy lie will go for the longer distances, 1 will pass him over and place them Lett l I. Watts a Web tor 3 ■140 Yabi>3.
