ALEXANDRA CAVALRY BALL.

« The members, both officers and troopers, of our Brack Cavalry corpa hare gained for themselves in the past an envied reputation as entertainers, and their ball of last night adds yet another wreath to their laurels. A. better night could not have been desired, the weather being beantifully clear, while inside the hall everything was equally perfect. The hall, although not graced with the usual amount of greonery, was very prettily draped with bunting, jusb a little leafy relief being given. The ends of the hall were used, as is customary, respectively for refreshment tables and for a retreat for non dancers, the latter— the stage end— being moat comfortably arranged and prettily decorated. Mr "W. S. Dustin. who had charge of therefresbments, once more distinguished himself , and provided a i eolly excellent and innumerable host of delicacies, the wants of visitors being 1 courteously anticipatsd, wo might almost say, by his staff of attentive waiters. A special feature on thtt large table was an imitation lighthouse, with beacon complete, composed of course of very eatable material. The music was provided by Mr J. Armstrong's string band, and it gave every satisfaction. There must have been fully 250 couples present, in itself a sufficient proof of the popularity and liberality of the trosp, and when we luve mentioned the estimated number we Lave shown how arduous must have been the duties of the M.C.'s, Captain James Watt and Sergeant Morgan. However, these gentlemen wore fully equal to their task, and letfc nothing in their pawer undone to make their visitors feel at home, and the same cau also truthfully be said of the remaining stewards, Lioufcenants J. and B. Biggie, Sergeant JPerry, Corporals Craig and J. Cameron, and "Vooper Eice. The ladies were particularly brilliant, although not bo many bright colours were noticeable aa usual, the prevailing colours being either white or very lightly shaded. Space will not permit us to detail the weavers and tbeir costumes, and r.s it would be unfair to mention some to the xeclusion of others equally protty, we shall refrain from selecting even the most conspicuous. Thfi whole countryside was represented, as well as many places at a greater distance. We noticed, however, as well aa many oilioerfi from other corps, j that Lieut-Colonel Hume and tho Consul I of Germany, Mr F. A. Krull, were present. Altogether the Cavalry's 1893 ball was a complete success, and, ss we have before said, adds but anothor record to their reputation as popular and liberal hosts.
