. * . The adjourned meeting of the Wanganui County Council was held yesterday. Councillors Higgie (Chairman), Smith, Jones, JJeiisen, Morgan, D. Ross, J. McGregor, md W. Bamber were present. Minutes.— The minutes of the last ordinary and special meetings were read and confirmed. .. Sanitation. — A committee, consisting of the Chairman and Councillors McGregor and Bamber, was appointed to carry out the provisions of the Public Health Act. '- A Bbsignatjon. — Cr Jones handed in hie resignation. _■•. Petitioks.— Mr Cowan, manager t\jt Pr Grace, waited upon the Council with respect to the notices to remove furza on the road in the Long Acre Valley, and stated that the furze was on the road when it was made. — Cr Jones handed in » petition- praying that the Kaukatia Biding be constituted a Road District, — Cr Neilsen asked the Chairman to rule whether a petition could he withdrawn and certain additions made after it had ■ been once haaded to the Council. — Some discussion arose on the matter, during ■whicji Cr Bamber presented a petition from the Puma ratepayers. - He then moved that a committee be appointed (consisting of Councillors Neilsen, Boss ttnd the mover) to inquire into the validity of the above petitions and report .at the next meeting. — Seconded . .by Cr McGrfgqr and carried. A Deputation. — A deputation, consisting of Messrs E. A. Campbell. J. Dempaay and K. Peako, waited on the Council re the road between Long Aero . . Valley and the Makirikiri Boad, and it was resolved that that the Committee •appointed 'by the Council to inquire into this matter," with the advice obtained frontfhe solicitor, wait upon Mr Penke . andjj^-for with him with a view to coming "to aa arrangement. y A Resignation.— Or Morgan handed — in his resignation, which was received with regret. Foheman of Works' Report.— Tho • report of the foreman of Works was read and received. — It was resolved that the • Chairman.andCoupcillonßamberandMc Gregor inspect the tunnel on No. 2 Ling extension, and report at next meeting ; also that the Foreman be instructed to widen the road beyond Mr Tillej's house and plant willows.
