UPPER WANGAEHU ROAD BOARD.
The Upper AVangaehua Eoad Board met at Mangaaiahu on Saturday, August 6th. Present^Messrs Poison (in the chair), Nicolson, Collier, Beard, Whiteman, and Grant. — The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. — A letter was received from Messrs Hearn and Kennedy, asking to have the road completed to their'property; resolved as there was no available funds for that purpose the letter lie on thj table. — Application from Mr Adden brook to have deviation in the road to his property legalised. It was moved by Mr Poison, seconded by Mr Nicolson, that Mr Addenbrook's request be agreed to, and that tfte Board's solicitors be empowered to examine any documents submitted by Mr Addenbrook.— The Foreman's report was read and considered. It nas moved by Mr Grant, seconded by Mr Beard, that not more than one main-' lenance man be paid out of the general fund for maintenance on Hale 3' Road. Mr Nicolson moved as an amendment, seconded by Mr Collier, that all surfacemen at present employed on Hales' Boad be retained.. 'Amendment was lost on the voices. The original motion was put and carried. Mr Nicolson then moved, secon " dedby.Mr Collier, that the maintenance man on the Eiver Boad be removed until the Eirec-Boad be legalised. .The motion ■was lost on the voices. — Moved by Mr ■Poison, seconded by Mr, Grant, that a draft of the proposed ridings be drawn up and submitted at the next meeting, notice to be postel on tho Bridge. The motion was 1 carried. — Mr Collier moved, seconded by 'Mr Whiteman, that Mr NicoUon, the Clerk, and the mover be appointed to interview the Jitinister for the district to try' and get assistance from the Government to complete the unfinished portions of Hales' Koad. The motion was carried on the. Chairman's casting Vote.— A ccounts amounting to i! 319 15s were passed for payment, and the meet-ing-then adjourned till the first Saturday in September. '
