FOURTH ANNUAL SHOW.

The fourth annual show held by thi above Association was opened in th«4)rill Hall ye3terday by his Worship the Mayor (slr A. J". Parsons). After a few Bhowers in th© morning the wouther cleared up and in Ihe afternoon and evening- it was all that could be desired. Tho exhibits were numerous and of splendid quality. Some of the best birds ware sant by outside exhibitors, but local owners more than held their owu. Mr George Greener carrying off Mr McCarthy's special prize of ,£3 3s, whioh was opjn to nil lit»ht birds in tha shjw. Tho same bird took the first in its class and two special prizes, including- Mr McCarthy's. The cup given by the Hon. J. Ballance, the President of the Association, waa won by a magnificent light Brahma cock, the propetty of Mr .]. 'I 1 Sinclair. This bird won no less than throe special priziw, as well as taking tho fir3t in its class, and it was tho object of considerable admiration during tho day. The chi9f exhibitors in the poultry classes were Messrs Read Bros, (Auckland). J. T. Sinclair (Wanganui), J. p,-ml (Wanganu'i), G. Greener (Wauganui), P. Goolacre (New Plymouth), and Mrs . T . Poole (Wanganui). Among the exhibitors of pigeons, Mrs A. H. Woolley (Wanganui), and Messrs P. Goodacre (New Plymouth) and W. Fleotwood (Wellington) were the most prominent. Messrs E. and A. Townsend < Wanganui) and Mr F. Smith (J'almereton North) were thu largest exhibitors of cauaries and cage birds- In these classes the success of Messrs E. and A. Townsend was a most noticeable feature. These exhibitors gained seven firsts, two specials and two seconds, and were once highly commended. There were not many ducks entered, but the prize winners weie in every instance handsome birds. The Committee is to be commended upon its efforts to raise tho standard of domestic birds .in the district. The alow brings together a large number of flrstclass birds, and although it is only three yeara since tha Association was inaugurated, its effect upon the breed of poultry in Wanganui has been most ma rked. The Committee's efforts deserve a suitable recognition from the general public, and we do not douot it will be given. Tlw following is the complete PRIZE LIST.
