AUCKLAND ITEMS.
(Peb United Frees Association,) Auckland, March 31. A new trial of the action of the Commissioner of Customs v. Sharland and Co., is to be applied for. The suggestion that the dispute regarding the Champion Whaleboat Race should be referred to the New Zealand Rowing Association will not be noted upon, and the action by the Waitemata Boating Club for the recovery of the first prize will, therefore, proceed. The Secretary of the Auckland CricketClub, A. M. Bale, who is leaving for Gisborne, has been presented with a purse of sovereigins by some cricketing friends. The dead body found yesterday at Cheltenham Beach has been idontified aa that of Jane Druinmond, aged about 65 years. A carpenter named Gregory. Nicholls, employed in the building of a shod at Hollaby's slaughterhouse, Cox Creek, was killed to-day by the fall of some timber. He was a widower, and leaves a family.
