Stud Horses. PR B ITmTN Aft Y N O~T IC E. MTo Stand this Season, the Clydesdale Horse HIS WORSHIP, By What's Wanted— dam, Glasgow Maggie. B. McCAUL. TO STAND THIS SEASON IN THE WANGANUI DISTEICT. ~gg* The Thorough-bred "^^JSfillg^llJP^ dam, Fanny Fislmr. ISAAC WALTON is a, dnrk-brnwn horse standing about 16 hands 3in high, and unites in a remarkable degree sym'etry with size, and inherits from both his sire and dam the most fashionable strains, and in his blood for every requisite speed, stoutness, running family, both on tho sides of sire and dam. Cannot be surpassed. Reference to Isaac Walton's tabulated pedigree will stow that his sire, Dainty Ariel (ivho as a racehorse made his mark in New Zealand), through his sire and dam Kiddlesworth and Althaea, is in possession of no less than ten ( 10) ! distinct strains of the world-renowned Eclipse blood. Fanny Fisher is a daughter of the celebrated Fisherman (a), who as i. racehorse won seventy-six (76) races in England, amongst his wins being the Ascot Cup twidb, viz., JBSB and 1859, Amongst those racehorses who claim F isherman as their siro may be mentioned Fishhook, winner of the Australian Champion Race 1867, Australian St Leger 1867, Ascot Vale States 1867, j Sydney Gold Cup 1867, Sydney Jockey ClubPiate, 3 miles, n'B67, &c. Angler, (sire of Progress) who won the Victorian Derby 1865, Victorian St Leger 1875, &c. Sylvia, winner of the Victorian Oaks 1867, now the property of the Auckland Stud Company, and dam of Goldsborough and MartinitHenri, who was sold to the Hon. James White for £1250. My Dream, winner of the Victorian Derby and Oaks, 1868-69; Seagull, winner of the Victorian Derby and Oaks j Lady Heron, Gasworks, Sour Grapes, Fenella, and a host of other well-known performers whose names are familiar to every sportsman in the Australian Colonies. Fanny Fisher's dam Coquette, by Lancelot, brother of Touchstone (Abaft), inherits the following valuable' strains ; Camel, Whalebnne, Waxy, Potass, Eclipse. Fanny Fisher was bred by Hurtle Fisher, Esq., Victoria, and meeting with an accident as a two year old only started once. She was then purchased by Mr H Walters, and by him imported to Auckland. It will bo seen that Isaac Walton is: half-brother to the following horses through his dame Funny Fisher': King Fisher, winner of the Auckland Cup; Piscatorious, winner of several races as a 3-year-old j Fisherwoman, Torpedo, and full brother to Hippocampus. As a well known judge romarked from her breeding "the dam of "Isaac Walton can-produce nothing but a racehorse." ' Isaac Walton was one of the fastest and gamest racehorses ever stripped in New Zealand. Ho only started once as two-year-old, when he won the Auckland Champagne Stakes. As three-year-old he started twenty-three times, winning fifteen races. He raced for about six years afterwards winning many of the principal races in New Zealand The last season of his racing career he met his own son ■ Billingsgate with 9st up each, and defeated him. on the Wanganui Racecourse. This is a victory no other racehorse in New Zealand can claim, as all racing men must know one mile was .Billingsgate's favourite distance. As. will be seen, Isaac Walton is the sire of Billingsgate, Sylvio the steeplechase horse, Takapu, Angler, Bard, Pink . Rose, Black Joe, and many other wellknown performers. If sufficient inducement should offor he will travel to Mai ton, passing Turakina on the road, every Monday, staying at William Gardner's stables, and returning on Tuesday. • . He will bear clone scrutiny,, a^ he has good sound feet, strong .pas-ijprns, short, well shaped cannon bones,"mu6cular arms and thighs, good hocks anditnees, well-shaped shoulders, well shapedjquarters, roomy chest, I good middle" piece, nice rein and hand- ) some head. Although Wapiti has been in CDnstant training for five years, and done a lot of hard work his legs are still quite sound without blemish, a quality breeders cannot estimate too highly in a sire, as it is a ruinous thing to train horses whose legs "I give way directly they are put into really I hard work. The Muskets nearly all had thib failing, and cost their owners and the the public dearly in consequence, whilst the Painters on the contrary are blessed with everlasting le*s. Wapiti is not at all unlike the great son of the Marquis ; and Art Union. In judging by the work his own legs have stood without injury, it is a fair deduction' to inter that Wapiti's stock will possessequally serviceable understandings Asa racehorse ho has won a fair number of events. He won the Auckland Welcome Stakes as a two yaar old. The following year he won the Grand Stand Handicap at Auckland, beating Salvage, Tim Wliiffler, Libeller, and others. As a four year old he carried off the Flying Handicap of five furlongs in lminr 3f sees., at the C.J.C. Spring Meeting. At the Summer Meeting he won the Midsummer Handicap, two miles, beating Tasman and others; At the Autumn Meeting he won tlie Easter Handicap, 1 mile, beating Nelson, Lady Emma and others. Asa five year old be annexed the Tradesman's Plate and other events at the Auckland, R.C Meeting; the Napier Cup Handicap beating Spado Guinea and other's; the Flying Handicap, $ of a mile, beating Pasha and othere ; the Waverly Stakes Handicap, 7 furlongs, at the Napier Park Autumn Meeting ; tho Kensington Park Handicnp, 15 miles; and tho Flying Stakes at the North Auckland J C Meeting ; as also the Consolation Handicap at the South Auckland R C Meeting. The above is but a portion of Wapiti's performances. It will bo sjen by Wapiti's performances that he has beaten all the great horses of his day, such as Nelson, Spado Guinea, Mitrileuse, Libeller, Sou'wester, Lady Emma, Tim Whifller, Tasman and others. King Cole, the sire of Wapiti, is by King Tom, whose dam, Poeahoutas, was also mother of those grand horses Stockwell and Rataplan, Hie former of whom earned for himself the well deserved title of " Emperor of Slallions." King Cole's dam Qui Vive, was a daughter of tho mighty Voltiguer, out of Mistress Ridgway, a daughter of Irish Birdcatcher. On tho dam's side Wapiti is equally well descended, as Realisation is a daughter of Vespasian whose siro, Now Minister was a son of Touchstone, whoso blood is the very patent of equine nobility. Hopeful Duchess, dam of Realisation, was by Flying Dutchman, out of Espoir, a daughter of Liverpool. If sufficient inducement should offer he will travel between Wanganui and Turakina.
