♦ The ordinary meeting of the above was held yesterday, at the offices of the Council, all tte members being present. ■ Election of Chaibman — Cr Ritchie was elected Chairman. Minutes — The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed. Notice op Motion — Cr Tawse gave notice of motion for next meeting in the matter of the Tokomaru Riding contributing to the main road. Cobbespondence — Letter was read from the Chief Surveyor stating that the road to Alma Farm was legalised 100 links wide. It was moved by Cr Peat, That the Foreman examine the road and look for the pegs put in by Mr Annabell, and that the Public Trustee be sued for the rates due on the property on his hands; seconded by Cr Dempsey and carried.— A letter was also read from the . Sergeant of Police stating that the police would collect the Dog Tax in the future. It was proposed by Cr Peat, seconded by Cr Ritchie. That application be made to Inspector Pardy to appoint an officer to collect the Dog Tax for the year 1892 ; carried. 'It was also resolved, That the Chairman and Cr Tawse take what steps .they consider necessary to amend the Dog Tax Act, so as to enable the police to destroy all dogs found at largo without the proper badges on. ' New Road —Proposed by Cr Tawse, seconded by Cr Robertson, and carried. That tho Council give Mr Jafdine all the assistance possible to acquire a road to his property, on condition that ho pays the expenses in taking the same under the Public Works Act. Sueveys— Proposed by Cr Peat, and .seconded by Cr Rodwell, that the Sur-veyor-General be written to calling^'attention to the necessary surveys being made to legalise the roads throuerh Rangitatau, Manganatn, O Tahu Blocks, and attention bo called to correspondence passed already between the Council and the Survey Department on the question ; carried. Accounts — Accounts amounting to .£250 7s 2d wore passod for payment. The Council then adjourned.
