CUSTOMS RETURNS,
(Pee United Peess Association). Wellington, June 1. The Customs returns, for the colony for the past month total .£116,164; Auckland contributing .823,096, Wellington .£24,943, Christchurch .£16,356, aud Dunedin £29,644. The total for May, 1890, was £127,163. The Beer Duty total for the colony for last month was £4034, the ■returns for the principal centres being — Auckland, £978; Christchurch. £796; Wellington* £452; and Dunedin, £892. For the month of May, 1890, the total was £4400j shillings aud pence omitted.
Henry George is carried away with enthusiasm for the bicycle. Ho thinks it the best thing invented for man — next to the single tax, of course.
