TO-DAY'S MATCH. THE TABANAKI TEAM. [By Telegraph.] (Special to Chkoniclb.) Haweba, September 13. ( Tho following will represent Taranaki : — Pull-back, Wray j three-quarters, Good, I?ayly, and Hempton ; halves, Taite, W. Bayly, and C. Bayly j forwards, Sangstej;, Mumby, Pearson, Major, Lambie, Good, Hawken, and Pearce. The representative football match between Wanganui and Taranaki commences this afternoon at 1.30 on the. football ground, when Is will be charged for admission for both ladies and gentlemen. Tl}e gpneral opinion is that, whichever, way the mateli ' goes, the game will be one of tho most stubbornly contested ever seen in Wanganui. Our local men are confident of making it pretty warm for their opponents. Our men know they have as strong a team as is possible to procure in Taranaki to fight against, and will therefore do well if they only succed in making a draw of it. On tho other hand, the Taranaki men are confident of a,n overwhelming victqry, and have.' qxjite mado up their minds for a '•' walk over." However, one never knows what is going to happen when Greek meets Greek, and the result may be as surprising to one side as to the other. There is great enthusiasm, locally, in the match, and no doubt larsro numbers will turn up to witness the tug of war, and wo are sure that whichever team wins it will not bn grudged its victory, If only oub men fight as hard as thoy did against the Englishmen wo fool sure that our visitors will find their work cut out for them. We wish both teams good hick, but hope to see our local '"reps" win this match, which will bo tho event of the season. Wanganuis, go in and win, and maintain tho prestige of your district.
