I February 16. | Mr Gore, M.H.E., who addressed his constituents lasfc night, gives unqualified support to the Ministry, declared for modified protection, and receired a unanimous vote of confidence. John Heenan, a farmer at Mangatui, was committed for trial on a charge of aheep stealing from a neighbouring farmer. A heavy shower of rain fell this afternoon, and more is threatening. The Registrar heard the counsel in support of the petition by G. W. Eiliott to have Coleman Burke declared a bankrupt. This is an equity suit which has been before the court for two years brought by Burke against KUiott, and it was attempted to show a petition had been filed to quash the suit. Elliott, in his evidence, characterised the equity suit as a oonepiraoy between Burke and Sawyer. Judgment was reserved.
