THE STRATFORD BELIEF FUND.

(per united press association.) Hawera, February 15. The Stratford Relief Committee have decided to divide the settlers who are jp to be given relief into three classes. The first class contains thoss who are deemed to be best able to bear their losses, ths second those to whom assistance is necessary to enable them to get throngh the winter, but who are not absolutely destitute, and the third okas those who are absolutely destitute or would very soon become so but for the assistance of the fund. The distribution will bo in building and fencing material. The first class will receive 4s or 53 in the pound on the amount of the assessment of their loss, the second-class will receive from 6s 8d to 7s 6d in the pound, and Aethird-class will receive in full. Messrs Sauohope and Barton will meet the suf» i'erers at Stratford to-day, and each. person will be informed of the amount that has been allotted to him, and will be asked how he will take it — whether in fencing wiro, iron, or timber, or in what proportions of each. Schedules will then be made' and sent to the conn tractor for the supply of goods, and a day and a person will be appointed for the distribution of the goods at the Stratford railway station.
