AN ALARMING DISEASEAFFLICTING A NUMEROUS CLASS.

The disease commences with a slight derangement of the stomach, but, if neglected, it in time involves the whole frame, embracing the kidneys, liver, pancreas, and in fact, tho entire glaudilar $ystem, aud the affluted drags out a miserable existonco until death giveß relief from suffering. The diseiiae is often mistaken for other complaints ; but if the reader will ask hitnaolf thu following questions, he will be able to determine whether he himself is one of the afflicted : — Havo 1 distress, pan or difficulty in breathing after eating 1 Is there a dull, hoavy fculing attended by drousinsss f Have the eyes a yellow tinge ? Does a thick, stickey mucous gather about tho gums and teelh in the mornings, accompanied by a disagreeable tuste ? Is the tongue coated ? la there pains in the side and back ? Is there a fulness about the right side as if tho liver was onlarging ? Is there costivenoss ? « there vertigo or dizziness when rising suddenly from a horizontal position ? Are the secrotions from the kidneys scanty and kighly coloured, with a deposit after atandng P Does food ferment soon after eating, accompanied by flatulence or a belching of gas from the stomach ? Is there frequent palpitation of the heart? These various aymptoms may not be present at one time but they torment the sufferer in turn as the dreadful disease progresses. If the case be one of long stauding, the™ will bo a dry, hacking cough, attended aftor a time by expectoration. In very advanced stages the skin assumes a diity brownish appearance, and the hands and feet are covered by » cold, aticky perspiration. A.s the liver and kidneys become more and more diseased, rheumatic pains appear, and the usaal treatment proves entirely unavailing against this latter agonising disorder. The origin of this malady is indigestion or dyspepsia, and a small quantity of the proper medicine will remove the disease if taken in its incipiency. It is most impue tant that the digeaao should be promptly and properly treated in its first stages, when a little medicine will effect a euro, and even when ifc has obtained a strong hold the correct remedy should be persevered in until ev«ry vestige of the disease Is •radicated, until the appetite has returned and the digestive organs restored tc a healthy condition. The surest aid rcoat effectual remedy for this distressing complaint is "Seigols Curative Syrup," a yegetablo preparation sold by all Chemists and Medicine Tendora throughout ihe world, and by tho proprietors, A. J. White Limited, 17, Farringdon Road, London, K. C. or the wholesale n gents, KempUiorne, Prossor & Co.'s Mew Zealand Drug Co. (Limited), Dunedin, Christchurch, Wei- 1 lington, and Auckland.
