Rent Account. — Prior to the adop tion of the balance sheet, Mr Heslo] asked if an old disputed account for ren was included in it. — The Secretary' saic he had referred the account in questior to the former Secretary, Mr J. R. Som merville, from whom lie had received f reply (letter read), stating that the Association wei'e in error in supposing thai the sum of .£SO a year paid him for salary included office rent. — Mr Hesloj said that at the time when it was agreed to pay Mr Sommerville .£SO a year i1 was on a distinct understanding thai that amount included office rent. — Mi Peat said he had a distinct recollection of Mr Sommerville saying that he intended taking an office in town, and that his £50 salary would include office rent — that his office would be at the service of the Society. — Mr Liffiton said Mr Sommerville had engaged the use oi his offices for the Society at a rental of £12 10s per annum. — After some further discussion it was resolved, on the motion of Mr Owen, That Mr Liffiton's account be paid. Election of Officers. — The following officers were elected : — Patron, Mr H. S. Harrison (re-elected) ; President, Mr D. Peat ; Vice-Presideut, Mr J. G. Wilson (Bulls). Committee. — Thirty-one gentlemen were nominated for membership on the Committee for the ensuing year. A ballot was taken for the fifteen required, with the following result : — Messrs W. T. Owen, F. Seconded by Mr Robertson, and carried. Exhibits. — Mr F. Richards moved, That all stock be admitted free at the next show. He thought exhibitors were put to sufficient expense in sending stock, without paying entrance fees. — Mr Liffiton seconded the motion pro forma, to permit of it being discussed. — Tli6 Secretary stated that the entrance fees last season amounted to £68 ; and several gentlemen remarked that to abolish the entrance fees would seriously affect the finances of the Society. — Mr Peat moved, as an amendment, That all stock pay entrance fees at the forthcoming show. Seconded by Mr Heslop. — The amendment was carried by 10 to 5. Programme for the Show. — Mr W. T. Owen said he thought it was desirable that the programme for the show should be considered at that meeting. — Several of the other members were of opinion that the matter might safely be left in the hands of the Committee, and on the motion of Mr Wilson the Committee were authorised to prepare the programme. List of Membership. — Mr Poison drew attention to the comparatively small number of subscribers to the funds of the Society. He thought a great many more would be got to subscribe if they were asked. The retiring Committee had done very well, but they might have done more in increasing the membership. — Mr Peat said that the Secretary had up to the present been a little new to the work, but now that he was better acquainted with the settlers he should be able to work up a good many new members. Prizes. — Mr Larkworthy stated that he would give the same prize this year that he gave last for the best bull at the show ; and having won it himself on the former occasion he would not compete this time. — Mr Peat said he would give a President's prize of £10 10s, to be given as the Committee might direct. Medals. — Mr Heslop moved, and Mr Poison seconded, That in future all prizes be paid in money immediately after the show, and be accompanied by a Society certificate. Both speakers held that the practice of giving medals had been a failure. — Mr Russell pointed out that there would be a difficulty with regard to the medals owing for past shows. They must have a die struck for those medals, and that being so the medals for future shows could be procured at greatly reduced cost. — Dr Earle thought there need be no difficulty in the matter, if they followed their usual course of leaving it optional to prizetakers to take either medals or money. —Mr Owen agreed with the mover that the medal system had been a failure. — The Chairman said there was a liability of about £100 for medals not yet supplied to prizetakers by the Society. — The motion was then piit and earned. Overdue Medals. — On the motion of Mr Owen, seconded by Mr Wilson, the matter of fulfilling the obligations of the Society in respect of medals due to prizetakers at previous shows was referred to the Committee. Votes of Thanks. — On the motion of Mr Liffiton, seconded by Mr Poison, a vote of thanks was accorded to the retiring officers and Committee. A vote of thanks to the Chair brought the proceedings to a close.
