LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.
July 20. The Council met at 2.30 o'clock. The Vagrant Act Amendment Bill (Colonel Brett) and the Licensing Bill (from the Lower House) were read a first time. I The Wellington Queen's Wharf Rate Bill, Regulation of Elections Bill, and Oamaru Harbour Board Bill, were read a second time, the latter on a division, by 14 votes to 10. The Public Reserves Bill and the Employment of Females and Others Bill were read a third time. The Companies Bill was passed through Committee with numerous amendments. Other business was postponed, and the Council rose at 5 p.m.
