May 3. DECEPTION OF THE GOVERNOR At the Railway Station the Governor was met by the Mayor and City Council and the Selwyn Council. Each delivered an address. There was a grind procession through the city of Volunteers, Fire Brigade, and Friendly Societies. Three triumphal arches were erected. 1200 children from the district schools sang the Natioual Anthem. Flags were bung up all over the city. The people turned out in thousands. Great enthu--Biam prevailed. The Governor will be the guest of the Ron W. Robinson. A j grand ball will bo given on Tuesday night.
