March 4. VICTORIAN LOAN. Mr Graham Berry has decided to offer three million of the Victorian Loan at 89 cum dividend. Mr Jardley, Secretary to the Victorian Agent General, retires in April, and will succeed Capt., Japp, It. A., present Secretary to the New South Wales' Agent General. Mapleson's great open site on the Thames embankment, has been offered to the colonial museum for £400,000. FAILURE,
The failure of George Frances Dickenson for £60,000, is announced. March 5. The Colonial Secretary of State, in a despatch, repeats the opinion that the dissmissal of the Victorian Civil Servants was not a temporary measure as Bowen reported, seeing that he signed orders for their permanent removal. Had he acted as though the measure was merely temporary, he would probably have overcome ti financial difficulty without recourse to measures involving grave objections when asked by Ministers to partially retrace their steps.
