June 21. Olliver addressed a large meeting of electors last night. He said that if elected he would give the Ministry his general support, as their policy commended itself to his understanding and. sympathy. He would not promise to give them, or any other Ministry, thorough or unhesitating support, as to do so would be unworthy of himself and that great constituency. A vote of confidence was passed. June 22. Robert Gillies is spoken of as a candidate for the Taieri district. Mr Reeves addressed a large meeting of electors. , He said that, if returned, he wculd support the Government as far as he could. • A resolution in his favour waa carried. Messrs Larnaeh and James Rattray, Directors of the Colonial Bank, have resigned. . Matthew Holmes . and J. C. Wright have been appointed till the meeting of creditors.
