AUCKLAND.
Sept. 17. A box containing Captain Church's certificate and other papers has been washed ashore from the wreck of the Tawera. There is little doubt but that all hands are lost. The names of the crew who shipped at Lyttelton last trip are, Captain Church, Peter Miller, Charles Anderson, Charles Roberts, (cook). Church leaves a wife and three children. A boat was found lashed on deck. The wreck was swept with waves ; the masts are gone, and no bodies were washed ashore. Bucklaiid reports — Store cattle, in large numbers, 2s 6d to 5s lower ; fat cattle plentiful, (30s to 35s per lOolbs ; sheep, usual supply, 3|d to 4d per lb. Binney reports — Dunedin and Oamaru flour, £11; Ohristchurch, £10 10s ; wheat, 4s 5d ; bran, Is Id; pollard, £6 10s; oatmeal, £17; pearl barley, 28s; oats, 3s; barley, 5s 6d ; potatoes, £7 10s ; hams, Is ; cheese, lid ; butter, Is Id. Trade very quiet; sales of all kinds very limited. '•"- A butcher was fined £20 for slaughtering on his premises in Queen-street. ' .- ' Arrived — Ladybird from South.
