WELLINGTON.
March 16. A ship is signalled, supposed to be the ' Wemyss Castle. ' Capt. Kennedy has resigned the command of the p s ' Paterson/ and Capt. Mundle is appointed in his place. The inquiry into the late wrecks ia going on.
The Attorney-General, on behalf of the General Government, has applied for an injunction to restrain the Provincial Treasurer from, expending the balance of the £50,000 appropriated by the Roads, Bridges, and Other Works Ordinance. The application has been ordered to stand over for the present, pending the argument by Mr Travers to make the present Auditor perform his duty. Drammond, the Melbourne Ba,uk defaulter, will be sent back by the ' Alhambra,' which sails at noon. The officer who takes him back says it is true that Drummond's salary was rifty pounds per week.
The 'Luna' leaves at the end of the week with the members of the Governor's household, carriages, and personal effects for Auckland.
