The overflow of water from the artesian wells in Lyttelton is gradually becoming a nuisance, of which the inhabitants of the city are beginning to feel the annoyance and to complain accordingly. Two suggestions have been made with a view of remedying the evil. One is, that the plan submitted should be made to provide arrangements whereby the water from the wells may be turned at will into the drains. The other plan is that all the side channels Bhould be either paved or asphalted, so as to prevent the accumulation of the water as at present.
