A CORRECTION OF No. 2 LINE RATEPAYER.

TO THE EDITOR OF THE WANGANUI CHRONICLE* Wanganui, June 14, 1866. Sir. —With your permission I should like to correct an error made by a “ No. 2 Line Ratepayer ”in your issue of the 9th inst. He says that, “ the whole of last year’s special grant r has been spent entirely out of the district. ”* Now, a,t the meeting referred to in his letter, it was stated that a part of the grant had been spent beyond the district, hut so far from the whole of it, I can assure him that neither onehalf nor one-third has been spent beyond the boundaries upon the Warrengate or any other road. I would submit that it seems strange that a ratepayer who attended this meeting should have made such a mistake, as the report of receipts and expenditure was read, and laid on the table for the inspection of any one who wished to examine the expenditure of the board. I am, &c., A Member of the Board.
