government land sale. PROVINCE OF WELLINGTON. IMPORTANT SALE OF LAND IN THE' MANAWATU DISTRICT. TOWNSHIP, 'SUBURBAN, AND SMALL FARM ALLOTMENTS, l TIMBERED SECTIONS, &c. I 1 T IS NOTIFIED for public information that an important Auction sale will shortly be held in Wellington o'. upwards of 5,000 acres, consisting of : Town Lots in the Township oi Manawatu, situate at Te Awa Hou, the present landing-place for goods, aboul three miles from the mouth of the River These sections will vary from a quartei acre to one acre. A few Town Lots in the Townshii of Moutoa, about 12 miles above the Manawatu Township, and also on the River. Suburban And Small Farm Allot ments, in blocks varying from 2 to 10C acres. These blocks are adjacent to the two Townships, and are also laid off or either side of the road now in progress tc connect the Moutoa with the Manawatv Township, and on blanch lines of road. Timber Sections, —(as many as cat be surveyed will be offered for sale) — about 18 miles above Moutoa, laid off or either .side of a road now in progress tc give access through the bush to the navigable portion of the River. These sections will vary from 100 to 320 acres and several of them will have Rivei frontages. A Township will be laid off at i suitable place on this line of road, whicl will be a connecting line between th< Rangitikei and ihe river navigation through the open and bush country o the Oroua and Upper Manawatu. The River Manawatu has a depth o water on the bar varying from 9 to li feet, and is navigable for vessels of tliai draught for nearly 40 miles (by the River) from the mouth. The tiraberec sections to be offered for sale form tbe extreme end of a rich flat block of fores! land of great extent (about 60,000 acres ; a considerable portion of which is coverec with the finest totara timber. The road thi’ough these- sections opens up the extensive plains between the Rangitikei and the Manawatu to the liver, which is the natural and only outlet to that. district. This road will also form part of a line of inland road from Wellington to Wanganui. Cobb & Co.’s coaches run twice a week between Wellington and Manawatu, and every information can be obtained from the Survey Office at Manawatu by intending purchasers. As soon as possible, before the sale, a map with full particulars of the sections of land for sale will also be published. A future notide will he issued giving the day on which this land will be offeree for sale, and full particulars as to upsel price, size of lots, &c., will ho published A.
