SUPPLEMENTARY.

In consequence of an unusual pressure of work in the Government Printing Office, the present issue of the Waka Maori has been delayed a day or two beyond the proper publishing day; we have, therefore, an opportunity afforded us of informing our numerous readers that, in consequence of the action of the House of Representatives, the Walca Maori will be discontinued. On the 17th instant, Mr. Rees, one of the gentlemen with whom Mr. Sheehan, the " lawyer of Kahungunu," (vide Wananga of 7th instant), is associated, moved that the item of £4OO, for the support of the Walca Maori, be struck off estimates, and the motion was carried by a small majority, we believe, of three—the Waka will therefore be discontinued. "We have no doubt that this intelligence will be received with the deepest regret by the entire Native population of New Zealand. We desire to say to our many Native friends that throughout the thirteen years during which we have conducted the Waka Maori we have been actuated by a sincere desire to promote the welfare of the Native race; we have invariably spoken to them words of Teuth and Honesty, and we have the satisfaction of knowing that our efforts have been appreciated by them, and that we have enjoyed their entire confidence. Our motto has ever been, " Justice, Truth, and Love."
