NOTICES AND ANSWERS TO CORRESPONDENTS.

We cannot advise the Ngatiwhatua Tribe, of the Kaipara district, respecting the block "Tuhirangi." The Native Lands Act has been translated into the Maori language, and, if they are dissatisfied with, the decision of the Court, upon reference to the said Act they will sec that the law has made provision for a rehearing of any case where good and sufficient causo can be shown. Rawiki ICa.ii.uia, of Uawa. —Your explanation is satisfactory. You should have informed us when you removed from Wluingapcua to Uawa, so that your papers might be sent to the latter place. They are now sent as requested. We cannot discuss the subjects mooted in the latter part of your letter. Fornication is a vice which lias existed from the time of the creation of man, and will continue, we suppose, to the time of his extinction. It is the duty of all good men to discountenance such proceedings, both by example ■ and admonition. With respect to the land, we see no objection to a man selling land, his own property, which neither himself nor his children can utilize. Te Rtjaki, of Raglan.—We do not understand your letter. It appears to be a mere jumble of words, without sense or reason. If you cannot write intelligently you should get sonio sensible person to write for you. Tkoxe Wi>'i Keuei, of Otago, requests lis to state that a meeting of If gait ahu is to be held at Otago Heads on Monday, the 21th of ?-lay next, to take into consideration the claim advanced by 11. K. Taiaroa, H.H.11., against the Government during the Session of 1872, in respect of certain promises said to have been made to t'-ij Xatives in connection with the pur-

chase of lands in the Middle Island. The questions to be brought before the meeting, as embodied in circulars distributed among the Natives, are as follows-.—l. Colonel Wakefield's land purchases in the year 1844, and his promises to the Maoris; and an inquiry as to what witnesses of said purchases are still living. 2. The land purchases of Mr. Commissioner Kemp, m the year 1848, and his promises also. 3. The land purchases of Mr. Commissioner Mantell, in the year 1853, and his promises also. 4. The fourth and most important matter to be considered by the meeting will be the collection of money for the purpose of sending Native emissaries to England to petition the Privy Council of the Queen that the promises made by her Land Purchase Commissioners may be fulfilled. The letter of Poari Kuramate about the death of W. Nopera Te Maihi-o-te-Rangi, and that of Uoani Ifahe, containing an account of the death of Mohi Mangakaliia, came to hand too late for insertion in this issue, we shall endeavour to publish them in our next.
