PERSONAL ITEMS (“Times-Age” Special.) Mr H. W. Smith, who has been manager of the Pirinoa cheese factory for the past ten years, has been appointed manager of the Parkvale cheese factory and will take up his duties on July 1. The Tribal Committee tendered a social gathering to Private F. To Maari, who was presented with gifts, accompanied by good wishes from the Maori people of the district. A party of Martinborough friends also made a presentation to Private Te Maari. Mr Herangi addressed the gathering in Maori. Private Te Maari was the guest at a social gathering tendered to him by the local Patriotic Committee in the Memorial Hall on Wednesday evening. There was a large attendance. Mr F. Lovegrove made the guest a presentation on behalf of the residents of the district. Aircraftman John Sutton has been transferred from a South Island station to the North Island.

Mrs Norman Murphy, Wanganui, is visiting relatives in this district. Private Peter Matenga, who was to have been the guest at a social gathering tonight, is confined to his bed with bronchitis. The gathering has been postponed.

Tenders are invited for the cutting of approximately 150 cords of pinus insignus in 4ft lengths. Particulars can be obtained from the manager of the Tauanui Estate, Pirinoa.
