To meet the needs of nearly 1000 married ex-service applicants for houses, the Auckland Rehabilitation Sub-Committee, for the latest fourweeks period, was provided with only two State houses' for allocation. Commenting .on the position, Mr. A. P. Postlewaite, R.S.A. president, who is a member of the committee, today said the youngest returned man from the present war could never live long enough to get a home unless the rate of allocation was greatly speeded up. He strongly criticised the absence of Government planning of manpower and materials, especially timber, and an inadequate training of tradesmen.
