YESTERDAY’S ZONE EFFORT OVER (£516 RAISED. WINNERS OF RAFFLES. Zone 11 had an extremely successful shop day yesterday, the sum of £516 7s 6d being raised for the zone in aid of Patriotic Funds. A striking feature of this zone’s work was the raising of £63 Is 6d by means of “penny boxes,” which most zone members have kept in their homes for the last few months. Four thousand pennies, as well as other coins, were contributed in this way, and a taxi was needed to take them to the bank yesterday. Next week’s shop will be in charge of zone 12 (Perry and Chapel Streets and Lincoln Road). This evening’s attraction is a card evening to be held in the Masonic Hall by zone 12. A good evening’s entertainment is guaranteed and it is hoped that there will be a large attendance. The first shop day in June, zone s’s shop on June 7, will be held in the premises recently vacated by Arts and Crafts, and this shop will be the placo of all subsequent zone shop days. A final meeting of zone 11 stallholders and helpers will be held at the residence of Mrs. E. J. Brown. 62 Church Street, tomorrow (Friday) afternoon at 2.30 o’clock.
