LEAGUE OF MOTHERS AN INTERESTING ADDRESS. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a good attendance at the monthly meeting of the local branch of the League of Mothers. Two now members were welcomed by the president, Mrs. Arch Clark. The speaker, Mrs. Roberts, of Wellington, gave an interesting address on "The League of Nations Union.” The League of Nations Union was a British society, she said, whose aim was to educate and mobilise public opinion concerning the objects of the league. Some nations had left the organisation because it represented things hostile to their politics or what they believed io be their interests, but for others it remained a beacon of hope. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames W. Boston, G. Browne and G. Brandon. Red Cross Euchre Party. There was an excellent attendance at the Red Cross euchre party held yesterday afternoon. The winner at cards was Mrs. Lawson. A raffle was won by Mrs. Varnham, and donations were received from Mesdames Viles, McKenna and Lawson. Agricultural Club. The annual meeting of the Featherston District High School Boys’ and Girls’ Agricultural Club was held in Featherston School. Mr. F. E. Jansen was chairman. It was reported that steady progress was being made by the Club. There had been increased entries in the calf and lamb sections, but poor entries in the root growing section which will receive attention in the coming season by the new agricultural instructor. The balance sheet, showing a credit of £8 3s, was adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows: Chairman, Mr. F. E. Jansen; secretary and treasurer, Mr. Jones, committee, Messrs. Cole. Cheer, Farrier, Hardy and Scott. The following donations were received: Western Lake area, £10; School Committee, £2; Mr. Henderson, £1; Mr Scott £1; Messrs. Cole, Fellingham and Guthrie, 10/- each; Messrs. Anderson and Kirkland, 5/- each, Mi. Buck, 4/-. Citizens’ War Time Service At the wartime united service on Sunday, which was one of the best yet recorded, a male quartette (Messrs F. Clark, C. C. Kenward, A. White and Lieutenant Robertson) rendered an item which was much appreciated. The Rev-H. Bloomfield read the lesson and the Rev J. R. Higgs was in the chair. COSY THEATRE “MISS ANNIE ROONEY.” On Wednesday night there will be a double feature programme headed by “Miss Annie Rooney,” an excellent comedy, featuring Shirley Temple and William Gargan. “Maisie Gets her Man” is a high grade comedy, starring Ann Sothern and Red Skelton.
