PATRIOTIC APPEAL

YESTERDAY’S SHOP DAY £SOO,RAISED. WINNERS OF COMPETITIONS AND RAFFLES. Gratifying success attended Zone 14’s Patriotic Fund effort yesterday, the sum of £5OO being raised through the shop and previous functions. The zone leader, Mrs. R. Miller, Wishes to thank all helpers and donors of goods, and in particular mentions Mrs. O’Hafa, Te Whiti, who made 50 cakes for the shop. The sponge cake competition was won by Miss B. Henderson, Te Whiti, with Mrs. Welch, Mt. Bruce, second. A guessing competition (weight of a pumpkin, 181 b.) was won by Mrs. G. Williams and N Patrick, who both guessed the correct Weight. These are still at the shop and may be obtained next Wednesday morning. All who ordered cones are asked to attend to this matter without fclll • The above raffles and the pumpkin may be obtained from Mr. J. A. Betos office. The zone leader, Mrs. R. M’lDi, would like to meet committee members at the home of Miss W t Daniell to-morrow at 2.30 p.m. , The shop day next week is in charge of zone 10, streets around Worksop Road This zone has specialised m children’s clothes, particularly warm ones for the winter. Also they wil have a large number of Seedlings, grown by Mr. D. Allen, Macara Street. There are 22 raffles, including sheets, towels and pillow cases, groceries and a rocking horse. Shop days till the end of May will continue to be held in the same Shop, but after that other arrangements wffl have to be made as the shop has been le Zone 12 will hold a meeting on Tuesday next, May 16, at 2.30 p.m., in room above Spiers’s Library. main object of this meeting s to arrange for a party to be held nn th Masonic Hall on May 25th. _
