WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MONTHLY MEETING OF MEMBERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mrs Terry presided at the monthly meeting of the Nireaha Women s Institute. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Wilkin, Barr, Thomasen and Davis. Mrs Hawkin read the motto for the day: “Goodness is a contagious thing,;, we must catch it before we can give it.” A letter of apprecaition was received from Driver G. A. Terry for biscuits received. Mesdames Golder, Petersen and J. Drysdale offered to make biscuits for three unaddressed parcels. Mrs W. W. Drysdale gave a report of the Council meeting held at Hukanui. The garments knitted by members since March include: 5 mittens, 1 scarf, 5 balaclavas and 2 sleeveless pullovers. The sale of produce realised 9s. The monthly competition resulted: — Gingerbread made with dripping, Mrs Terry 1, Mrs J. Drysdale 2, Mrs Hawkins and Miss B. Terry 3. Sockettes, made from underwear: Mrs H. Drysdale 1, Mis& J. Drysdale 2. Best vegetable: Mrs W. Drysdale 1, Mrs Petersen 2, Mrs J. Drysdale 3. Best chrysanthemum: Mrs Terry 1. Mrs W. Housten 2. Mrs J. O’Neil 3. The competitions for June will be: — Best bloom and vegetable: scrap book, to be sent to a home; rock cakes made' with dripping. The hostesses were Mrs W. Houston and Miss B. Terry.
