KEPI UP BY ALLIED TROOPS NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS OF AIRBORNE FORCES. BEHIND THE ENEMY LINES IN BURMA. LONDON, May 9. Alon of tlie 1-ltli Army are keeping' up llieir drive to clear the -Japanese from the sleep hill country in the Ko'Jiinia area. The -Japanese lost 350 men killed in three days' lighting' up to last Saturday and have lost more since then. British forces have scored local successes at all points along the Imphal Plain, where they continue to drive the Japanese from their positions. Tanks helped to break lip the Japanese attacks. Inside Burma, the British airborne troops have blown up one of the main Japanese supply railways at ten points. They have killed 3,000 Japanese since they landed behind the enemy’s lines.
