WEDDING DWANE—SYCAMORE. (“Times-Age” Special.) The wedding took place recently at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Tauranga, of Elva May Sycamore, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. W. Sycamore, Mount Maunganui, and Terence Stephen Dwane, R.N.Z.A.F., youngest son of Mr and Mrs W. J. Dwane, of Carterton. The Rev. Father J. A. Eccleston officiated. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a trained frock of ivory silk embroidered satin, fastened with buttons, and made with a Peter Pan collar and long sleeves. Her silk embroidered tulle veil was caught at the head with a coronet of orange blossoms, and she carried a bouquet of white Tiger lilies and asters. , The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Lorna Sycamore, who was attired in a deep rose fitting frock, and wore a small green straw hat with pink veil trimmings. Her bouquet was of toning pink dahlias and gladioli. The flower girl, Audrey Sycamore, was dressed in a pale green satin frock with fitting bodice, a long full skirt, and a coronet of green veiling and tiny pink flowers. Her posy was of pink pom-pom dahlias and asters.

Sergeant Noel Barton attended the bridegroom as best man. After the ceremony a reception was held. The bride’s mother received the guests wearing a blue frock with grey accessories and pink shoulder spray. She was assisted by the bridegroom’s mother, who wore a black ensemble and pink shoulder spray. The bridegroom’s gift to the bridesmaid was a gold cross and chain, and to the flower girl a gold signet ring.

Mr and Mrs. Dwane afterwards left by car for Rotorua, where the honeymoon was spent. The bride travelled in a dusky pink frock and hat, with 1 black accessories. OBITUARY MR FRANK J. W. RAWLINGS. The death occurred at the Masterton Hospital on Sunday evening of a very well known and highly respected resident of Carterton in the person of Mr Frank J. W. Rawlings, at the age of 62 years. He had been in indifferent health for. some considerable time. Born at Greytown, he had lived practically the whole of his life in Carterton, where he had made many friends. He was of a quiet and unassuming nature. In his younger days he played football for Greytown and for many years acted as official timekeeper for most of the championship games played in Carterton. He was a printer by trade and had worked on various newspapers in the Wairarapa. For the past 29 years he had worked on the “Wairarapa News.” He leaves a widow, a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs V. Lee, and a son. He is also survived by a brother, Mr Herbert Rawlings, of Cambridge, and three sisters, Messames T. Conwell (Palmerston North), R. Gallon (Matarawa), and Nicol (Palmerston North). One sister (Mrs Perry) predeceased him several years ago. The late Mr Rawlings saw active service in the Great War and was seriously wounded. Carrington Rainfall. Mr J. A. Roberts, of Carrington, reports that March was one of the wettest months experienced for some years. The total fall was 6.35 inches. There were 18 wet days and the heaviest fall occurred on March 2, 90 points. Personal Items. Miss June Booth, who has been staying with her parents at East Taratahi, has returned to Wellington. Miss Lois Deller, of Martinborough, is spending a holiday with her parents : in Park Road, Carterton. Mr and Mrs Parsonage, who have : been the guests of Mr and Mrs Archie J McPhee, Clareville, have returned to Wellington.

REGENT THEATRE “A NIGHT TO REMEMBER.” There will be an outstanding programme shown tonight at the Regent Theatre. The chief feature is “A Night to Remember,” which is something new in mirth, murder and mystery. The chief roles are taken by Loretta Young and Brian Aherne.
