LATEST OFFICIAL FORECAST RAIN LIKELY. FOR A BRIEF PERIOD. The following official weather report and forecast was issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, at noon today:— DISTRICT FORECAST: Northwesterly winds fresh to strong in > exposed positions. Weather cloudy and mild, with scattered rain developing about ranges during tomorrow, FURTHER OUTLOOK: A brief period of more general rain. Mr H. M. Boddington reports that 28 points of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. on Sunday, and 42 points for the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday. The Waingawa Sub-Station, P.W.D., reports as follows for the 24 houis ended 9 a.m. today: —Shade temperature, maximum, 67; minimum, 37; terrestrial, 25; sunshine, 10 hours 12 minutes; frost, 5.4 degrees.
